I am a mother of 3 wonderful children... Happily Divorced - with 3 little dogs... I work full time as an executive sales representative so my full time job is pretty stressful.
I lost my mother a few years ago and I realized that therapy was just not working. Add that with a marriage that was failing it was like my creative side needed an escape and 1 day I stumbled onto Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday Videos on youtube. That was it I took a paint brush in hand with paint and canvas and what I was journaling and then would look at the pages and realized that what I was working out mentally was coming out in this book.
I am an artist (well over time I realized that).
I have always been creative at some level very big into scrapbook artist, rubber stamping, more recently getting into mixed media . And I'm an art journal artist... When I found the Art Journaling the healing began. I tell everyone 2 pages in my Art Journal is better than 30 days of Therapy.
I am very happy to announce that I have just been added to my 1st Design Team. Sin City Stamps you can find them at www.sincitystamps.com
HI All... So I was so excited coming home from work yesterday and I got my box deliveried - here's a video of opening the box and then trying out the new color Lab
I also used these sprays I created with other spray products I own jusst to see how they stand up - and how the colors go together - because i'll all about using different colors.
I wanted to just let the video run - but with Youtube I had to get it under 15 minutes. So had to cut some things out.
Here are some things I learned... Now remember this was very early in the morning for me on Thanksgiving Day - I just wanted to get in and play...
So being the blonde that I am - it took me a few minutes to realize that the "X" - mean scoops this part I cut out of the video... LOL...
So when it says 4XR - it means 4 scoops of Red...
Make sure to use something to protect your hands the pigments stain for sure - this just shows the quality of them as far as I am concern.
I learned from Donna Downey to use ArtGuard - afterwards alittle bit of soap and warm water and everything just washed off easy.
Here's Marion blog and where I saw the first Youtube video
Here is where you can purchase the products - I just put my order in for my 2nd deliery.
I have to say I am a FAN!!! I love these - and the possibilities are endless....
I also did some spraying with other products that I own just to see how they held up and how the colors looked together - for sure they blend perfectly.
Here's jusst 1 thing I made with them... Some Christmas Tags
This is just priced to perfection... What you get in the kit is amazing... I've been playing all day with it.
So I purchased this Pepsi Wooden Crate about a year ago was going to use it to store my paint but .... my paint supplies got to be too much so I had to move it to something else.... So what to do with this crate - I couldn't get rid of it... I love it.... I have a coke one also..
So thanks to Pinterest I came across different Spice Rack ideas.. Here's my take on it.
I didn't do anything to the crate it was in good shape and I like the vintage look
For the bottles I tried a few different version - but this one is from Michaels they are the smaller version and $1.00 per bottle. I cleaned them out - I'm waiting for more to come in to finish all the spices I have...
So I wanted to use chalkboard paint so I can write on them when I change out the spices... which while I was painting them I knew I was going to use a paint pen so wouldn't be changing them.
I firsted tried to use the Faber Castell Chalk Board Paint - but it was too thin.
I finally tried to use the Paint It up Chalk Powder that I got a the Scrapbooking Expo from the Melissa Frances Booth.
I followed the instructures with the black Heavy Body Paint. It was perfect!!! nice and Thick.
I then used Double Sided Stick Tape for both around the bottom of the bottles to add Burlap Ribbon to the bottom... As well as to add a Cork top to the bottles.
I found a few different free templates on Pinterest and then used my paint pen if I needed to change the name.
That gave me the idea to do the base... I started with Golden - Titanium White and then added some beige paints
I then started to glue on the Metals - chipboard and flowers etc. using Golden Gel Medium and E-6000
Once it was all glued on I then pulled out the new Art Basics Heavy Gesso White.
Once it all dried I pulled out acrylic paints.
Colors of the rainbow. Yellow, Orange, Red, Pink, Purple, Green and Blue
Once those were dried... I then pulled out my Lindy Stamp Gangs...
Was creating so I wasn't writing things down...
I then added Silks - Acryic Glaze to get the shimmers to pop more..
Once the base got to the point that I was happy - I then pulled out the Shimmerz Paints Spritz... I just love these...
While the paints were wet I pulled out embossing powers.
The texture that is on this cover is amazing... The photos don't really capture it....
The last step I did was with Gel Medium and added my name and the sticker - Enjoy the Journey.
Once the cover was done and dry I started playing on the pages...
I had created a weekly calendar with excel and printed them out - I used washi tape to hold down the pages.
On the other side i started doing stencils and stamps. Using the Shimmerz Paints Spritz to create what will be the back ground pages.
more
This is my base that I would doodle and draw and scrap each week...
This is my version of Documented Life and the other different types of version out... This is my calendar for weekly events - work and personal events - kids stuff etc.. all at 1 location.
I was sitting looking around the internet... wasn't feeling creative so I jumped onto the Once Upon A Sketch website
And something moved me.... I jumped up...
My daughter and her new boyfriend.... 1st boyfriend... were carving a pumpkin in the kitchen.
Some background... about a month ago my daughter asked permission to start to date after meeting a boy... I didn't want to say yes I wanted to wait until she was 16 - but I did... This was going on for about a week or so at this point - I then went into panic mode.. Freaking out about everything - OMG is she going to make the right choices. I made so many bad ones I was so afraid she was going to follow that same path.
Then BANG!!!! 2:30 am after they became officially dating - I had a heart attack. I believe this was the cherry that broke the sundae. I'm 48 and we realized that this must run in my family I am adopted so I don't have my family history. Boy was this a wake up call. 3 kids - 3 dogs - I need to be on this earth.
So life has changed... During that time I have to say - Jay was amazing. He was supportive he brought the kids to see me at the hospital I was in for 3 days before being released. He's been a good addition and im glad he came into her life.
So I wanted to do a page about them.
Pulled out me cute Polaroid Camera and started snapping some photos...
and Creativity Hit.......
Here's photos of the finished process and close up shots.
Here's a list of supplies - it was left on my desk so if I forgot something Sorry.

Here's the new Studio Redesign... We found a large wooden desk that someone was throwing out - it was beat up - but I didn't care about that around the edges I'm going to covering it anyway. The top has Leather inbeaded so it's great for a base. Below are some photos...
With bad knees and the heart attack a few weeks ago - going up and down the stairs to the basement studio caused me to avoid it... so I took over a corner in the upstairs living room.
Here's some photos.
Here are the drawers.
Draw filled with stencils.
here's the shelving area..
Here's a sneak peak of a canvas i'm working on for my neice...
This started very different below are some photos.

well wasn't sure what I was doing here... so then this happened.
Not happy here at all.. For sure in the ugly stage.
Then got my paints to start dripping.
Golden Open Acrylic with abit of water and Airbrush medium.
Was doing this outside since it was such a beatuifully day and figured let the paint go somewhere outher than my hard wood floors.
So didn't like all the color bleeding through and then just the hard black... So I used some white w/ glaze for the top - but couldnt' get it off fast enough so that didnt go as planned. Then started dropping color - and then took the water botter and just splashed the water on to start the dripping.

I really had such a fun time making this.. highly recommend for anyone...
another fun project I did was a commissioned piece they gave me colors, words and themed (Music)... it's finally done and I'm giving it to them this week - I am nervous I hope they love it.
So this Sin City Challenge partners up with Craft Hoarders Anonymous again this challenge is to use some Metal/glass - do you hoard gears, pins, brads, eyelets, frame and other metal do-dads? Well I do... so this one was pretty easy. In fact I pulled out 4 plastic containers (Only 4)... and the supplies i used only on this canvas... (Scary how much I have)
I hope you can spend some time with us today to check out all of the awesome projects brought to you by both teams. You can click on the designer names beneath their project pictures to be taken directly to their blogs for more information. In addition, there will be prizes awarded, and all the information can be obtained on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog. Sin City Stamps is also giving away a fabulous $20 gift card, and the CHAC blog has this beautiful selection of Really Reasonable Ribbon to be awarded to the challenge winner.
Took a Canvas and added my Favorite Sin City Stamps to the background. The photo don't show the stamps showing through on the areas in the background - but you can see the leaves and the chevron.
Here's how it started
Then added the leaves - This one I actually sprayed Lindy's Stamp Gang Sunburst Sprays on the stamp let it set and then put it on the canvas.
I just loved how it came out above...
Then I started to add the metal supplies.
more photos..
And more
Then once it was all set pulled out the Gesso. I used a thicker one from Jerry's Art Store
I only covered the items so the stamp images came through.
Then I pulled out my favorite colors from Lindy Stamp Gang sprays... and started having fun..
Keep spraying until you get the look.
I pulled out some acrylic liquid ink in spots as well.
Then it got too dark - so I pulled out the gesso again in the center
Then pulled out the sprays again.
LOVE the COLOR.... But the letters blended to much for me so I pulled out the acrylic paints and just lightened it up.
I am part of Donna Downey Class - I am very behind but wanted to jump on this Week 17 class. I love the abstract feel of it all.
Here's Donna's Piece
Below is mine.. Of course it's inspired by Donna's work... but I do love how mine came out.
cl
My patience level just wasn't around - proably cause I was stuck in bed all day with a bad headache and walking Pnemonia again... didn't rest enough last time and it came back.
Here's some photos of my process.
I love the black splatters.. This class 52 Weeks is just perfect. For people like me that are just so business I can download the videos and work on them when I can.
The technicques are just lovely... and you learn so much.
And of course Donna is just so funny
I hope you enjoy and please follow my blog and I love comments.
So just alittle background was stuck in bed on "bed rest" with a very bad case of Walking Pnemoniadoctor gave me a choice Hospital (Remember: single mom of 3) or Bed Rest. Of course I picked the 2nd option.
So now I have to do a post and all my stuff is downstairs in my craft studio and i'm stuck in bed. So I send me oldest son downstairs and just give me an idea of what I want to make for this blog post and some ideas what to grab - up came a bag with a bunch of stuff. At first I was like - what am I going to do with all this... But what came out - I think i'm going to let him pick from now on...
Would love for you to follow my blog - and love any comments.
Supplies used listed below.
I've had this Donna Downey Stamp but wasn't sure what to do with it. Of course I buy everything of hers but fear always gets me that I'll never do it as good as she does...
So I stamped up the image with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Black Soot onto Gloss paper.
After cutting it out and pulling a green blank card that I got from Michaels
and pulled another stamp by Prima - Julie Netting Mixed Media Stamp I stamped it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain on front and back
My Son pulled out different ribbons I had and twine - after all that was the challenge to use what we hoard.
I used double stick tape to stick the ribbon around the edges. And then used Beacon 3 in 1 Glue to put the stamped image on the card.
I then started to glue on the twine for the hair - used a few pieces of Green Ribbon. This totally amazed me on how this really started to come together... even down to the braid.

more close up
Then pulled out my water colors to fill in the face.
More photos. Added Tim Holtz Idea-ology Foliage on the hair.
I then added the stamped image from the Rubber Stamp set onto a Tag I was playing with the other day with my homemade Jelli Plate and put that on the inside of the card to cover where the brad came out.
Some close up photos of the card now that it's completed.

For the inside of the card - I pulled out my fun Sin City Stamps. I used the Flower #2 Stencils & A leave stamp with my Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays
I know the photo doesn't cover the shimmer that's on the page - but LOVE LOVE...
I really hate having a post completely done and never hit the save button and then my internet crashes.
So here's my 2nd attempt - trust me i'm hitting save every photo add.
I'm very excited to pull together a blog post to apply for the design team for Lindy's Stamp Gang. I'm such a fan of the products and I totally blame Limor Webber. She's an enabler and every time she shows a new color I have to buy it..
Here's the thing... and you will never hear this from me. But Lindy's products are amazing... I have no complaint on anything in fact they improve them over and over and over.
Well... I do have 1 Complaint - STOP MAKING AMAZING PRODUCTS. I have to buy them all... hurts my wallet.
ANywhere... here's my take on making a canvas hope you enjoy.
1 of the things I love to do is on wet gesso spray the sprays.
I heat set inbetween of changing colors once I get them blended.
And continue and move the canvas around so you get the dripping
Once this is done I added some drops of golden paints and napkins
napkins glued on with gel medium
Here's where I added paints.
I also addd strips of papers and once the background color was what I wanted I added more Lindy's Sprays onto it to get the shimmer back.
Now here's is where I wasn't sure what to do next I wanted to get the background done for the "design team side"... But I had twine in my room and got an idea.
So I pulled out my sprays
And then I used glue to draw out the flowers...
I then protected the canvas and started to fill in the flowers with the sprays.
Once i had the color in the flowers i saw alot of open space so I used a smaller poppy stamp
I also added washi tape on the stemps... And then included another Stamp to outline the flowers.
I had used the Prima Dolls & Donna Downey stamp onto glossy paper. And then I also used the sprays to fill in the dolls and the background on the words.
Here's some close ups

Here's the final photos Really grunged it up with a black Tim Holtz stamps and black sharpie.
So I was looking through a bunch of blogs which inspire me... and 1 of my favorite person is Lori Vliegen she is just so talented.. She had a post about starting Documented Life Challenge. Well it was just love at first site... It just pulled all those individual things I love into one place... So Off I went and picked u a new moleskin... Here's the process I did creating the cover. Hope you enjoy the video... That was yesterday.
Here's the website that her blog took me to... Art to the 5th - The Documented Life Project Details.
Today I pull together the pages... added the calendar pages from my other moleskin... Started this up coming week. And did some stamping... painting... and used a ton of my washi tape...
Some more up close photos.

So I can THANK Limor Webber for my Lindy Stamp Gang obsession.. Normally I would insert a picture of all my sprays, powders, mica powder (Insert blah blah blah) here but it's a bit embarrasing how many I have and the photo wouldn't capture everthing... Yes Limor I'm going to kill you... But Thank you at the same time. These are by far the best color sprays ever... the shimmer just can't be touched don't waste your money on anything else!!!!
I didnt' take photos as I made this layout for the Color Challenge they do a color challenge each month and I just love doing it... Tonight I was cleaning up my studio (still trying to find my Prima shabby cic supplies I put them somewhere and can't find them. And I just start playing with the new colors I just got for the January Challenge and this Mixed Media Layout Just came out of it....
I did take photos at the end so here some close up photos... A list of supplies is at the bottom. As always I have a bad habit of taking things out of the package and storing it so if I don't know something I'll do my best to explain it.
List of supplies:
12x12 Prima Marketing Romanitque Collection Hedgerow (Other size used)
Lindy Stamp Gang (January Colors you can get here)
Jenni Bowlin - for Ranger #12 Fountain Pen - watered down and splattered
I hope you enjoyed sorry I didn't take photos of the process - but you know how it is when you get in the zone and 2 hours later you realized you have just created a page... I just love it when that happens.
Thank you for looking at my blog. And I hope you can follow me. I love comments so feel free to post.
So this is my first time attempting to apply for a Design Team for Sin City Stamps.
Below is my process for this new piece. I am a big fan of Terri Sproul so when she put out the Design Team call I jumped at the chance... After of course thinking I wasn't good enough - but being that it's a new year and I believe I'm an artist truely I overcame my fear and ive applied.
Video:
So here's the process. did a video as well.
The first thing that I did was take the water color paper spray with water and then used the Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and let it dry. The next day I used the punches and punched all the butterflys out. I then outlined them with black did a few different typs Black Marker, Black Paint and Stickles Black
After I put the Gesso surface I started with using the Sprays - I don't wait until the Gesso drys I like the way the sprays mix with it.
Let it drip when it mixed with the gesso and just somehow gets cooler well that's how I feel about it. I also sprayed some handmade spray paint that I learned how to make from Donna Downey.
I liked it but wasn't in love with it - and again this project is for a design team and I'm suppose to really impress Terri. So I added the Tim Holtz Tissue Paper. The Sprays bleed through the tissue paper.
The color didn't jump out so I added the Gelalos then just used water and a paint brush to get the color mixed up. I dragged it down to the sides.
I loved how it came out - and then POP... Tree came into my mind. So I pulled out the Rigid Wrap out and started playing with it... Let this dry completely. I do this in layers to just control how the tree looks better you can you tube this process as well - but don't be afraid it's totally easy and attaches to the canvas perfectly.
Below is close up after I painted the branches.
Below is my cut out leaves. I used the same paper as above and sprays for the butterflys.
After they are cut out spray them with water and crumple them up.
Then I broke out my flowers and started hot glueing them to the canvas.
Some close up photos.
I also stamped some images of Butterflys and flowers around the open area.
Adding the different sizes butterflys.
I used Allene's Glue to set the moss
A whole picture below with the moss tacked down. I really loved how this was coming out. Everything jumps off the page
Some close up photo's of the moss.
Below is another good photo... What's weird here is this is when it took the turn away from what I was thinking in my mind. I stepped away at this point.. Need to figure out what i'm doing next.
So I add my word for 2014... Release.. Because that's the plan for 2014 I am going to release the old and move onto the new.
Ive never had to keep a list of supplies - and I tend to buy and then rip out of packaging and put away so i'll do my best to list everything.

So I'm a big fan of Tracy Weinzapfel she does a Mixed Media Monday and each month she issues a challenge.
For December she shared a book with us - which of course I went out and purchased... Where will you be Five Years from Today. She started with the Five Things I Value.
I had an old canvas that I was working on thinking of something with hearts and but got stuck in my creative process and put it to the side.
Above is what it looked like before.
Below is the process. Started with Gesso and paints.
More layers and different colors to get dimension. Pulled out some musical books and started laying the ground work to my flowers.
Then I added another layer of Book Text.
I also added some Green Rope for the stems... But wasn't really happy - so layered some pulled out burlap.
I also layed Rigid Wrap Plaster Cloth on top as well. IT so much fun to work with just cut wet and lay it on top. let dry. I then used some of my stash from etsy store I turned them upside down but on the other side is $dollar signs.
Also used some from my black collection to layout the 5 things.
I also pasted down my 5 things that I value which is on black paper and I wrote it out with Gold Pen. #1 Family, #2 Trust, #3 Honesty, #4 Hope and finally #5 Create.
I used my Krink Permanent Paint Marker K-42 White to outline my words and around the red flower.
I also added the word Values to the left...
This is my entry for Tracy's monthly contest.
I hope you like - please watch Tracy she does live shows on Monday and has a You Tube channel.
I was watching her Canvas Create February Version - she uses pastels..
I had a canvas that I was playin with Paint Spray - Lindy Stamp Gang Sprays and Paint dipping...
Of course at the end it was totally ugly... I put it to the side Like I end up doing with many canvas.
And what I have learned is that's ok... When your ready - Pick it up....
After watching Donna's Canvas Create I picked this up.
Added Gel medium and stuck Tissue Paper to it... - lots of different pieces I had left over. Pulled out paints... Layering up the colors.
Added the poppies - and then the black center flower Soft to get more texture.
A close up above.
I then tore up book text trees.
I pulled out the soft & hard pastels and had some fun.
I then pulled out the Inks and outlined the Trees.
Heres some more photos
Thank you for looking at my blog...
I hope you follow.
Here's a preview of the next blog Just finished it tonight. I posted and older version on 1 of my other blogs as something I was working on - and then it got into that ugly stage... in the last 2 days I finally finished.
So I don't always do these challenges from other blogs but lately I have been doing a few. I came across Lindy's Stamp Gang color challenge for October. The reason I did this is because I love the colors.
Below is the Color Challenge Block... So I picked all of them of course LOL
Here's my process to get to this:
Started with a White 8 x10 Hard Canvas Board. I start tearing paper and modge podge paper onto the canvas.
So added a few layers - and with some stamping we moved ahead.
These are a bit hard when your starting out. I usually art journal with no purpose other than to Let out what I'm feeling. This week has been a struggle with my daughter with the push and pull that comes with a 14 year old freshman.
Added a bunch of Lindy's Stamp Gang products here I didn't want to add more layers of paper so I used Magicals - Red Hot Poker Orange
Silver Frost
Spring Green
Light Purple
Royal Purple
Titer Lily Red Orange
Ponderosa Pine Olive
Added from the sprays Glitz Stpitz Steel Slimmer
Flat Fabio Luscious Lime
Flat Fabio Wicked Witch Purple
Used Airbrush Colors Golden Opeque to drip down from the top.
Used MOdeling paste on a few different Stencils
I used by The Rubber Cafe the Extra Large Daisy #j-1148 - put black ink and then immediatley dropped Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Power Oakleaf Olive then heat gun them to bubble.
Here's some more close up
Adding the Photos and starting to come up with the letters.
I added the photos - glueing down the Letters - anding the stamped girl after I colored her... Pulled the hot glue gun out and started gluing.
Here's another closer photo
Then I cut out the Stamped Girl.
Adding her to the board.
Adding the flowers -
And more
After it dried I made some more changes - with the White Montana pens and Black Pens
Added more flowers.
Please go and check out the Lindy's Stamp Gang challenge. Click here
