I am a mother of 3 wonderful children... Happily Divorced - with 3 little dogs... I work full time as an executive sales representative so my full time job is pretty stressful.
I lost my mother a few years ago and I realized that therapy was just not working. Add that with a marriage that was failing it was like my creative side needed an escape and 1 day I stumbled onto Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday Videos on youtube. That was it I took a paint brush in hand with paint and canvas and what I was journaling and then would look at the pages and realized that what I was working out mentally was coming out in this book.
I am an artist (well over time I realized that).
I have always been creative at some level very big into scrapbook artist, rubber stamping, more recently getting into mixed media . And I'm an art journal artist... When I found the Art Journaling the healing began. I tell everyone 2 pages in my Art Journal is better than 30 days of Therapy.
I am very happy to announce that I have just been added to my 1st Design Team. Sin City Stamps you can find them at www.sincitystamps.com
Here's a video of the progress of finally going in the right direction with this canvas.
It started out very different.
Didn't like this... So I added Joint Compound.
Still didn't like it...
So finally got an idea.
I hope you enjoy... And I hope this shows you to keep going - even if you feel like maybe it's done - it's not done... You keep going until you get this feeling "DONE".
Lots and lots of layers.... Paint - and then took it steps further.
I added gesso to the paint brush - then used gel medium and glued on Book Text.
Once this part is done with all the flowers glued on.. I then gesso the altered brush again Using Art Basics - Heavy Gesso White - I love how thick it goes onto the flowers. Once Dry.
Below is a video of the process. Please check it out.
Thank you for checking out my blog - I hope you follow it - I love comments.
Using a gift someone gave me after being in the hospital from the heart attack and turned the items in the basket into pieces of my canvas... This one I used the tissue paper and lot of decorative items.
Here are some close up photos. Video of the process is below.
I hope you enjoyed this quick video... Sorry for no music again - I'm still having issue with my external hard drive which all the music is stored on... should have it fixed soon.
We went to TGI Fridays last night with the kids and saw this new menu.
It is SOOO Cool... It's a very hard cover - and has the menu pages within the cover.
I fell in love - and begged the manager if I could have one.
He said sure as long as I bring it in to show him what I did with it.
I got home and immediately sat down and started working on it.
What is first you ask... HA!!! Art Basics Heavy Gesso - White - this is the new Finnabair Product. I just love it - it's so thick and I wanted to be able to covered parts but not the whole thing.
I then attached with Gel Medium strips of scrapbooking paper that I played and created with my Gelli Plate.
I then pulled out Washi Tape and had some fun.
One I used a coat of Gel medium on that - I then pulled out the paint sprays.
I loved how the base came out and then a light went on and I saw this going with some Encaustics.
So I pulled out my melting Pot and Beeswax.
I put a full coat on the cover and did used a heat gun to bond it into the cover.
I then pulled pieces of Book Text and tissue paper and used the wax to get it on the cover.
I had been adding flowers - different brands to the cover as well using either Gel Medium or Beacon 3 and 1 glue.
I added Resins and other Prime junkets numbers and more flowers...
I added color with additional Sprays and Silks to get the colors onto the flowers.
Final touches were added with Inka Metallic Rub and Black Gelotos around the edges.
A coat of Matt Medium sealed it all in.
Supply List
I'm sorry if I miss a few things but here is what I remember.
HI All... So I was so excited coming home from work yesterday and I got my box deliveried - here's a video of opening the box and then trying out the new color Lab
I also used these sprays I created with other spray products I own jusst to see how they stand up - and how the colors go together - because i'll all about using different colors.
I wanted to just let the video run - but with Youtube I had to get it under 15 minutes. So had to cut some things out.
Here are some things I learned... Now remember this was very early in the morning for me on Thanksgiving Day - I just wanted to get in and play...
So being the blonde that I am - it took me a few minutes to realize that the "X" - mean scoops this part I cut out of the video... LOL...
So when it says 4XR - it means 4 scoops of Red...
Make sure to use something to protect your hands the pigments stain for sure - this just shows the quality of them as far as I am concern.
I learned from Donna Downey to use ArtGuard - afterwards alittle bit of soap and warm water and everything just washed off easy.
Here's Marion blog and where I saw the first Youtube video
Here is where you can purchase the products - I just put my order in for my 2nd deliery.
I have to say I am a FAN!!! I love these - and the possibilities are endless....
I also did some spraying with other products that I own just to see how they held up and how the colors looked together - for sure they blend perfectly.
Here's jusst 1 thing I made with them... Some Christmas Tags
This is just priced to perfection... What you get in the kit is amazing... I've been playing all day with it.
I signed up to take Donna Downey's Workshop... Sculpted Poppy
Here's some close ups
I highly recommend taking this class.... I've used the skills learned in this workshop on so many other canvases. I never really jumped into the Rigid Wrap as much... She gave me the courage to just go for it..
Here's a sneak peak at the next blog. I just started to play with Encaustic
It's been such a long time since I made a video so it was fun doing it again... I don't normally talk at all - just add music - and edit screwed up a bit in the beginning - but I got the video done and that is what matters... I also realized that my external hard drive that has all of my Itunes music seems to be broken my computer can't see it - so another fun thing I need to get fixed... So sorry no music.
So I had a problem last weekend that landed me back into the hospital. While everything is ok now it was alittle scary.
So while I was hope doctor's orders resting - my daughters cheerleading team got together and sent me a wondeful basket. Sorry for the bad photos - but I think you get the idea.
Sent a beautiful flower arrangement
Great candle & a plate of homemade banana muffins that were so tasty.
So what can I do I was so touched. Tears came to my eyes - so I made them Thank you cards.
I did a fall theme..
Mixed media to the max...
First used my home made Gelli plate - the size is 5x7 so these cards fit perfect onto it. Used fall colors - Orange/Yellow first layer - then Blue & Green got the back ground going.
Then pulled out my sprays and stencils and did more layers.
After that pulled out my Dina Wakley stamps and embossing powder and heated some images onto the card.
More stamps to add textures
then started playing with the flowers and Hemp - which came with the basket.
Once it was all in place - pulled out the Heavy Body gesso and got them all the same white color - then used the sprays again to pull the flowers back to the fall colors.
I added the Letter of each of the girls names - and wrote notes onto the back. Once it was done - I grunged it up with gelotos - and also did some black paint splatter.
Also used Prima Flowers Wood Leaves and I also embossed them with the different greens and added them.
Went down the Jersey Shore with the kids and we had a blast in the photo booth. I love the black and white strip - kids got the color one... here's what I did with mine.
Below are some photos of the process. I did alot with Acrylic Paints - Washi Tape - Modeling Paste - Embossing Powder - Stamps.
I added lots of Paper Flowers all brands - prima - etc... ribber metal trinkets - and Prima Resin.
Once I got it all on the piece where I wanted it... I used the Art Design Heavy Gesso White.
The first layer needed more.
So I pulled out my Liquitex Gesso to put another coat onto the flowers.
I used Lindy Spray - and Silks And more to get the colors I wanted.
More photos
After I got the background all done.. I pulled out the encaustics
So I purchased this Pepsi Wooden Crate about a year ago was going to use it to store my paint but .... my paint supplies got to be too much so I had to move it to something else.... So what to do with this crate - I couldn't get rid of it... I love it.... I have a coke one also..
So thanks to Pinterest I came across different Spice Rack ideas.. Here's my take on it.
I didn't do anything to the crate it was in good shape and I like the vintage look
For the bottles I tried a few different version - but this one is from Michaels they are the smaller version and $1.00 per bottle. I cleaned them out - I'm waiting for more to come in to finish all the spices I have...
So I wanted to use chalkboard paint so I can write on them when I change out the spices... which while I was painting them I knew I was going to use a paint pen so wouldn't be changing them.
I firsted tried to use the Faber Castell Chalk Board Paint - but it was too thin.
I finally tried to use the Paint It up Chalk Powder that I got a the Scrapbooking Expo from the Melissa Frances Booth.
I followed the instructures with the black Heavy Body Paint. It was perfect!!! nice and Thick.
I then used Double Sided Stick Tape for both around the bottom of the bottles to add Burlap Ribbon to the bottom... As well as to add a Cork top to the bottles.
I found a few different free templates on Pinterest and then used my paint pen if I needed to change the name.
That gave me the idea to do the base... I started with Golden - Titanium White and then added some beige paints
I then started to glue on the Metals - chipboard and flowers etc. using Golden Gel Medium and E-6000
Once it was all glued on I then pulled out the new Art Basics Heavy Gesso White.
Once it all dried I pulled out acrylic paints.
Colors of the rainbow. Yellow, Orange, Red, Pink, Purple, Green and Blue
Once those were dried... I then pulled out my Lindy Stamp Gangs...
Was creating so I wasn't writing things down...
I then added Silks - Acryic Glaze to get the shimmers to pop more..
Once the base got to the point that I was happy - I then pulled out the Shimmerz Paints Spritz... I just love these...
While the paints were wet I pulled out embossing powers.
The texture that is on this cover is amazing... The photos don't really capture it....
The last step I did was with Gel Medium and added my name and the sticker - Enjoy the Journey.
Once the cover was done and dry I started playing on the pages...
I had created a weekly calendar with excel and printed them out - I used washi tape to hold down the pages.
On the other side i started doing stencils and stamps. Using the Shimmerz Paints Spritz to create what will be the back ground pages.
more
This is my base that I would doodle and draw and scrap each week...
This is my version of Documented Life and the other different types of version out... This is my calendar for weekly events - work and personal events - kids stuff etc.. all at 1 location.
I was sitting looking around the internet... wasn't feeling creative so I jumped onto the Once Upon A Sketch website
And something moved me.... I jumped up...
My daughter and her new boyfriend.... 1st boyfriend... were carving a pumpkin in the kitchen.
Some background... about a month ago my daughter asked permission to start to date after meeting a boy... I didn't want to say yes I wanted to wait until she was 16 - but I did... This was going on for about a week or so at this point - I then went into panic mode.. Freaking out about everything - OMG is she going to make the right choices. I made so many bad ones I was so afraid she was going to follow that same path.
Then BANG!!!! 2:30 am after they became officially dating - I had a heart attack. I believe this was the cherry that broke the sundae. I'm 48 and we realized that this must run in my family I am adopted so I don't have my family history. Boy was this a wake up call. 3 kids - 3 dogs - I need to be on this earth.
So life has changed... During that time I have to say - Jay was amazing. He was supportive he brought the kids to see me at the hospital I was in for 3 days before being released. He's been a good addition and im glad he came into her life.
So I wanted to do a page about them.
Pulled out me cute Polaroid Camera and started snapping some photos...
and Creativity Hit.......
Here's photos of the finished process and close up shots.

Here's the new Studio Redesign... We found a large wooden desk that someone was throwing out - it was beat up - but I didn't care about that around the edges I'm going to covering it anyway. The top has Leather inbeaded so it's great for a base. Below are some photos...
With bad knees and the heart attack a few weeks ago - going up and down the stairs to the basement studio caused me to avoid it... so I took over a corner in the upstairs living room.
Here's some photos.
Here are the drawers.
Draw filled with stencils.
here's the shelving area..
Here's a sneak peak of a canvas i'm working on for my neice...
Finally opened my new Prima Stencils by Jamie Severtson Dougherty "bloom Girl" Stencils.
Not sure why I waited so long other than I clearly have a shopping problem... I need to get everything and then it sits until I open it.
Just going to show some photos on this one I didn't take photos during the process and cleaned up my desk so I didn't get a chance to write everything down that I used.
All the sprays are by Lindy's Stamp Gang
Below is a sneak peak of the next blog. I been playing with the Dress Form that came with the Flying Unicorn September Kit.
I ended up getting today off and finally got back in the studio to have some creating time...
I worked on this 5x7 piece today and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE how it came out. Below is the process and a list of supplies is on the bottom.
I started with a 5x7 canvas board I had painted blue & green was going to do something a poppy things but totally went a different way. I used Gloss Super Heavy Gel and then adheared the Tissue Paper
I then used my fingers and added on paints and then used a baby cloth to pull color off so you can still see the tissue paper behind.
I then used the Tacky Glue to make the heart - and then pulled out the cheese cloth and put that onto the canvas.
I then used the different inks to fill into the heart.
Did many layers of the colors to pull the heart together.
I then played with different stamps and washi tape.
I then added Flexible Modeling Paste on a strip. I used the stazon ink around the edges as well Grunge is so cool.
I pulled out an old credit card and just dipped in paint and pressed onto the canvas.
And then stamped
Be Something
I also used watered down of the Acrylic Inks the Orange & Red and with my finger just pressed onto the paper to get the color blend I wanted. I also added this silver stuff I have no idea what it is called I just found it in my stash box... (LOL) yes i'm a hoarder.
I pressed the letters into the Modeling Paste and then pulled out the black acrylic inks and watered them down and went around the outsides of the letters...
I'm in love.

My Inspiration...
Below are the photos on the progress. The canvas is not complete so this is part 1....
I took a 12x12 canvas and started to draw with pencil my profile.
I've never drawn a side profile before - so I took to google... here's the inspiration of the side profile.

Once I got that part done - I cut up the page I printed out to cover the face so I can play with the hair.
Playing with Warm Colors then moving onto Cold colors.
More
Between colors I used a dryer to dry it up.
More
Started to make the hair crazy.
More
After playing with the face - and still need to do more with it but then I pulled in some black as the back ground color.
So far I really like how it's coming together - but this is the first layers.
This started very different below are some photos.

well wasn't sure what I was doing here... so then this happened.
Not happy here at all.. For sure in the ugly stage.
Then got my paints to start dripping.
Golden Open Acrylic with abit of water and Airbrush medium.
Was doing this outside since it was such a beatuifully day and figured let the paint go somewhere outher than my hard wood floors.
So didn't like all the color bleeding through and then just the hard black... So I used some white w/ glaze for the top - but couldnt' get it off fast enough so that didnt go as planned. Then started dropping color - and then took the water botter and just splashed the water on to start the dripping.

Beleive it or not now is the part that it tuned for me... I started to love it... Some more things to do but wanted to share it with you so far. Really proud of it.
We welcome my son back from his 8th grade Washington DC trip - where I might add I only received 2 text messages the entire time and 1 phone call. Boy it's hard when you realize you are not needed anymore...
The only info I got from him was watching his instagram account.
Here's the money he found I made him a card/envelope (sin city stamps will have that blog next week) inside was some money.
This is what he bought.
Those of you follow my blog or facebook have realized that we recently rescued a dog that through our other 2 dogs into some issues. Here is our new rescue Hollister
We had 1 trainer that basically took my money to sit on the floor and "get to know the dogs" nothing happened. He didn't help at all.
Then we found Fern Dog Training. Working for Fern is Jessica Castellano well she is just AMAZING... 1 night with the dogs yes let me say that again #1 Night and the dogs were different dogs. No snapping at each other - fighting - they are all playing with each other. They are listening. The Mita house was back in order... Highly recommend them.
Tell them Lisa sent you - they were so great to us I would love to help them get business.
One of the suggestions was to crate the dogs so they would all have their own space.
So the other day I finally went an got the crates. Of course they were so ugly I had to do some art on them.
The art starts to happen - I used Montana Paint Markers
So it was a rainy Memorial Day weekend here in New Jersey so I decided to catch up on the old and new movies still in the theaters.
Here's my reviews.
#1 - Chef
A chef who loses his restaurant job starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family.
A very good feel good movie - I give it 4 Stars.... Lots of surprise stars in the movie - Robert Downey Jr for one - Scarlett Johansson - and Jon Favreau the kid in the movie is a very good actor so you really feel what he's going through connecting with his dad. Highly recommend.
#2 X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.
Now I liked the movie - but I have to warn you if your going to X-Men for the action - this might disappoint. Alot of drama - and story went along with this movie - which I like so I would give it a 3 1/2 - 4 Star rating. If you like the series you should go... But I would be surprised if it pulls in what the past movies did...
#3. - Million Dollar Arm
A sports agent stages an unconventional recruitment strategy to get talented Indian cricket players to play Major League Baseball.
Disney as always doesn't disappoint... This is a 5 Stars as far as I am concern..
Such a feel good movie. Based on a true story which are movies I love anyway - this one which I didn't know any of the history before I went to see the movie. I must see!!!
#4. Blended -
After a bad blind date, a man and woman find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attraction grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.
Funny would be an understatement... Freaking so funny I laughed so hard I missed some of the movie - I went by myself so I will probably go see it again with the kids. Another feel good - but with a ton of comedy movie. Being a single parent this one for sure hit a nerve - especially with the kids involved on both sides... I'm giving this a 5 Star rating and another Highly recommend..
Some other movies I saw hin the last 2 weeks that I would recommended are:
The Other Women
Neighbors
Heaven is for Real
Godzilla
Tomorrow brings more movies... I still need to see Spiderman
The Love Punch
yes I know I see alot of movies ... we are a family that loves movies.
So as you all know I just LOVE Donna Downey I took her on line class Sculpted Poppy click Here
This is my take on her class - It's a $25.00 class - and seriously worth ever penny...
This is alot of layers of paint with the Rigid Wrap layers.

I really had such a fun time making this.. highly recommend for anyone...
another fun project I did was a commissioned piece they gave me colors, words and themed (Music)... it's finally done and I'm giving it to them this week - I am nervous I hope they love it.
So this Sin City Challenge partners up with Craft Hoarders Anonymous again this challenge is to use some Metal/glass - do you hoard gears, pins, brads, eyelets, frame and other metal do-dads? Well I do... so this one was pretty easy. In fact I pulled out 4 plastic containers (Only 4)... and the supplies i used only on this canvas... (Scary how much I have)
I hope you can spend some time with us today to check out all of the awesome projects brought to you by both teams. You can click on the designer names beneath their project pictures to be taken directly to their blogs for more information. In addition, there will be prizes awarded, and all the information can be obtained on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog. Sin City Stamps is also giving away a fabulous $20 gift card, and the CHAC blog has this beautiful selection of Really Reasonable Ribbon to be awarded to the challenge winner.
Took a Canvas and added my Favorite Sin City Stamps to the background. The photo don't show the stamps showing through on the areas in the background - but you can see the leaves and the chevron.
Here's how it started
Then added the leaves - This one I actually sprayed Lindy's Stamp Gang Sunburst Sprays on the stamp let it set and then put it on the canvas.
I just loved how it came out above...
Then I started to add the metal supplies.
more photos..
And more
Then once it was all set pulled out the Gesso. I used a thicker one from Jerry's Art Store
I only covered the items so the stamp images came through.
Then I pulled out my favorite colors from Lindy Stamp Gang sprays... and started having fun..
Keep spraying until you get the look.
I pulled out some acrylic liquid ink in spots as well.
Then it got too dark - so I pulled out the gesso again in the center
Then pulled out the sprays again.
LOVE the COLOR.... But the letters blended to much for me so I pulled out the acrylic paints and just lightened it up.
I am part of Donna Downey Class - I am very behind but wanted to jump on this Week 17 class. I love the abstract feel of it all.
Here's Donna's Piece
Below is mine.. Of course it's inspired by Donna's work... but I do love how mine came out.

My patience level just wasn't around - proably cause I was stuck in bed all day with a bad headache and walking Pnemonia again... didn't rest enough last time and it came back.
Here's some photos of my process.
I love the black splatters.. This class 52 Weeks is just perfect. For people like me that are just so business I can download the videos and work on them when I can.
The technicques are just lovely... and you learn so much.
And of course Donna is just so funny
I hope you enjoy and please follow my blog and I love comments.
Hello Blog world... Hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Day
I did what we all love to do... Enjoy the movies.
We went to catch the new movie Neighbors with the little hottie Zac. Here's a few things I walked away with.
Most importantly the kids asked me to reevaulate Raded "R" Movies to see if they can see them. Outcome: STILL A BIG NO!!! Holy Cow what they show in movies today is like my rated X when I was a kid... Shocking.
We caught the movie at the AMC Dine-In Theater - first it's $17.00 a person - horrible just because it's comfortable seating - shouldn't that just be part of what they do...
Then.. Check this out
This is what upset me the most. My daughter asked for a small (Kids small) popcorn - HELLO $8.50 - not bundled package with soda we already had that. No asking for our Stubs card to get the free upgrade - which Medium would still not be worth the $8.50... I am just shocked.
Tried to get a manager after the theater to deal with it - NO LUCK. Waitress once she got the check disappeared. SO Disappointed... Will never go again.
On to positive things...
Did alittle creating this weekend.. A good friend from work because a father and I wanted to do something for him - below are the photos and I'll do my best to have the list of supplies - this was one of those - just create create create...
So just alittle background was stuck in bed on "bed rest" with a very bad case of Walking Pnemoniadoctor gave me a choice Hospital (Remember: single mom of 3) or Bed Rest. Of course I picked the 2nd option.
So now I have to do a post and all my stuff is downstairs in my craft studio and i'm stuck in bed. So I send me oldest son downstairs and just give me an idea of what I want to make for this blog post and some ideas what to grab - up came a bag with a bunch of stuff. At first I was like - what am I going to do with all this... But what came out - I think i'm going to let him pick from now on...
Would love for you to follow my blog - and love any comments.
Supplies used listed below.
I've had this Donna Downey Stamp but wasn't sure what to do with it. Of course I buy everything of hers but fear always gets me that I'll never do it as good as she does...
So I stamped up the image with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Black Soot onto Gloss paper.
After cutting it out and pulling a green blank card that I got from Michaels
and pulled another stamp by Prima - Julie Netting Mixed Media Stamp I stamped it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain on front and back
My Son pulled out different ribbons I had and twine - after all that was the challenge to use what we hoard.
I used double stick tape to stick the ribbon around the edges. And then used Beacon 3 in 1 Glue to put the stamped image on the card.
I then started to glue on the twine for the hair - used a few pieces of Green Ribbon. This totally amazed me on how this really started to come together... even down to the braid.
More Photos
more close up
Then pulled out my water colors to fill in the face.
More photos. Added Tim Holtz Idea-ology Foliage on the hair.
I then added the stamped image from the Rubber Stamp set onto a Tag I was playing with the other day with my homemade Jelli Plate and put that on the inside of the card to cover where the brad came out.
Some close up photos of the card now that it's completed.

For the inside of the card - I pulled out my fun Sin City Stamps. I used the Flower #2 Stencils & A leave stamp with my Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays
I know the photo doesn't cover the shimmer that's on the page - but LOVE LOVE...
I really hate having a post completely done and never hit the save button and then my internet crashes.
So here's my 2nd attempt - trust me i'm hitting save every photo add.
I'm very excited to pull together a blog post to apply for the design team for Lindy's Stamp Gang. I'm such a fan of the products and I totally blame Limor Webber. She's an enabler and every time she shows a new color I have to buy it..
Here's the thing... and you will never hear this from me. But Lindy's products are amazing... I have no complaint on anything in fact they improve them over and over and over.
Well... I do have 1 Complaint - STOP MAKING AMAZING PRODUCTS. I have to buy them all... hurts my wallet.
ANywhere... here's my take on making a canvas hope you enjoy.
1 of the things I love to do is on wet gesso spray the sprays.
I heat set inbetween of changing colors once I get them blended.
And continue and move the canvas around so you get the dripping
Once this is done I added some drops of golden paints and napkins
napkins glued on with gel medium
Here's where I added paints.
I also addd strips of papers and once the background color was what I wanted I added more Lindy's Sprays onto it to get the shimmer back.
Now here's is where I wasn't sure what to do next I wanted to get the background done for the "design team side"... But I had twine in my room and got an idea.
So I pulled out my sprays
And then I used glue to draw out the flowers...
I then protected the canvas and started to fill in the flowers with the sprays.
Once i had the color in the flowers i saw alot of open space so I used a smaller poppy stamp
I also added washi tape on the stemps... And then included another Stamp to outline the flowers.
I had used the Prima Dolls & Donna Downey stamp onto glossy paper. And then I also used the sprays to fill in the dolls and the background on the words.
Here's some close ups

Here's the final photos Really grunged it up with a black Tim Holtz stamps and black sharpie.

And here's a sneak peek on the next products - very far from done.
Not done yet - but here's another canvas in process.
Me and my daughter did a mini trip to Atlantic City - we stayed at Revel - we got a great rate on Groupon.

So for the delay on posting my blog... I actually haven't been making art... Had to move the studio downstairs and then we had our own bit of drama... An issue with my little Ella all of 8 pounds biting our neighbor - All is cleared up now thankfully.
Then #2 we had a fire in my daughters room in 1 one of her outlets - very scary but again thankfully no one was hurt. Just a bit of damage.
Then... #3 we had water coming in due to all the snow from the roof and causing some more damage.
And finally #4 today walked in to a very large bird that had gotten into the venting and was caught down by the furnace... I'm going to share the video we made just because I figured it was going to be a funny thing me and the kids working together. So you can see it here. Don't laugh to hard at me screaming like a little girl (with my daughter)... then all of us stressed out and yelling at each other.
And we also get a peek at new products coming out. These are brand new Scrapbook Layouts. Makes me want to go on vacation just to use the layouts.

Here's just alittle sneak peak of my blog post on the Sin City Stamp blog on the 22nd...
So I still love to scrapbooking weekends - even though the way I do pages is very different than traditional scrapbook.. This weekend I had a blast creating pages. Friday (really used as set up) - Saturday started at 11:30 finished around 10pm. Didn't sleep over this weekend because something came over me Friday night I went in to the Animal Shelter to drop off some donated item and this little cutie pie caught my eye.
Those eyes... Calling out please take me home... He is a Smoothed Haired/terrior, Jack Russell - he's a mixed of black and white. Looks like alittle puppy 6 year old. He was found walking the streets of New York City and my local shelter rescued him 2 weeks ago from a High Kill shelter... He's so well behaved so he had to be owned - how someone just put a dog out on the street I can't understand. But he will be happy for the rest of his life with us... He's now getting into the "pack world" of my other 2 dogs...
Here's Ella - our Imperial Shizu
And here's Cleo our Yorkie Poo
Here's a handmade Flower I made. I used a stamp onto cardstock. Wet the paper and used a pencil to roll the edges.. I then got some Prima Flowers used gesso to get them to a white color and then used Lindy's Stamp Gang to get them to the color I wanted and put them in the center. I also used Flower Soft to get more texture.
A gift for a friend... Not done yet (lets see if she reads my blog) LOL...
This a a photo we took at Beachcomber in Seaside Heights, NJ and I just love it... She is a great friend and I wanted her to have alittle bit of both of us.
Here's another piece - I'll have a seperate blog on how I made this - it's still in a work in progress and I need to come up with what I'm going to write on the canvas. This will be for sale in my etsy store. It's a great gift for alittle girl.
Working on 1 more piece but it's not done... I'll post photos on my next blog.
So I follow a bunch of Mixed Media Artist that are always talking about Once Upon A Sketch so I started looking at the website (click above) and decided to give it a try for the January challenge.
Below is this months challenge
I don't usually have something in mind when I start a project but with the sketch it gives you a good jump off start so I really like that concept behind this website. I will for sure continue to use it.
Below is the process.
I used Donna Downey Stencils and Modeling Paste for the above. After it dried I used Transparent Golden Airbruch Colors Quinacridone Red. Daler Rowney FW Acrylic Artist Ink Flame Orange. I put alittle on my craft mat sprayed water into them and just dropped with a paint brush a bit on the poppys and then used my finger tip to blend it around. I LOVE how this came out..
I then used the poppy (flower) clear stamp by Prima I used Opalite Archival - Cypress Frost & Stazon Jet Black all around the page. Added Washi Tape and then used Prima Chalk to chalk up a piece of book text and mounted it down with Gel Medium.
More photos I also made some homemade spray paint yellow and Orange and I sprayed some spot on the page and let it drip you can see below.
Then I stamped the flower stamp again - this time with Close to my Heart Orange. I also added some Glitter by Sparkle N Sprinkle Flaming Orange and embossed it. Then I also took the mini butterfly and used Stampin Up Green Galore. I also created a tag for the journaling part. I have never been good at that part I have pages of scrapbooking page with space for it but I always leave it off... so doing this challenge helps push to do that part. I used the Prima inks on the tag and then stamped with the flower stamp in the Orange and I used my Tim Holtz mini Attacher..
I also took my Pitt Penn Bold because I wanted the Poppys to stand out more and I just went around them and then filled in the sees part.
I stamped from the same prima set the word Sunshine. I added flowers sorry I don't know the name of the bottom one but I know I bought them at Michaels. Then I got a delivery today from Wild Orchid Crafts someone posted them in Pinterest and I bought a few flowers and i have to say I LOVE THEM... for sure will be buying more. it was the perfect add to the layout.
Finally I did a few more steps. I used Shimmerz Paints Dazzelerz Jelly Bean Green to go over the stems on the poppies and up into the buds. I used some black Daler Rowney FW Arcylic Artist Ink onto my craft sheet just 1 little drop and with a tooth brush and water I did a bit of splatter. Took the left over watered down and went around the edge to grunge it up a bit and did the same on the tag.

So I can THANK Limor Webber for my Lindy Stamp Gang obsession.. Normally I would insert a picture of all my sprays, powders, mica powder (Insert blah blah blah) here but it's a bit embarrasing how many I have and the photo wouldn't capture everthing... Yes Limor I'm going to kill you... But Thank you at the same time. These are by far the best color sprays ever... the shimmer just can't be touched don't waste your money on anything else!!!!
I didnt' take photos as I made this layout for the Color Challenge they do a color challenge each month and I just love doing it... Tonight I was cleaning up my studio (still trying to find my Prima shabby cic supplies I put them somewhere and can't find them. And I just start playing with the new colors I just got for the January Challenge and this Mixed Media Layout Just came out of it....
I did take photos at the end so here some close up photos... A list of supplies is at the bottom. As always I have a bad habit of taking things out of the package and storing it so if I don't know something I'll do my best to explain it.
List of supplies:
12x12 Prima Marketing Romanitque Collection Hedgerow (Other size used)
Lindy Stamp Gang (January Colors you can get here)
Jenni Bowlin - for Ranger #12 Fountain Pen - watered down and splattered
I hope you enjoyed sorry I didn't take photos of the process - but you know how it is when you get in the zone and 2 hours later you realized you have just created a page... I just love it when that happens.
Thank you for looking at my blog. And I hope you can follow me. I love comments so feel free to post.
So this is my first time attempting to apply for a Design Team for Sin City Stamps.
Below is my process for this new piece. I am a big fan of Terri Sproul so when she put out the Design Team call I jumped at the chance... After of course thinking I wasn't good enough - but being that it's a new year and I believe I'm an artist truely I overcame my fear and ive applied.
Video:
So here's the process. did a video as well.
The first thing that I did was take the water color paper spray with water and then used the Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and let it dry. The next day I used the punches and punched all the butterflys out. I then outlined them with black did a few different typs Black Marker, Black Paint and Stickles Black
After I put the Gesso surface I started with using the Sprays - I don't wait until the Gesso drys I like the way the sprays mix with it.
Let it drip when it mixed with the gesso and just somehow gets cooler well that's how I feel about it. I also sprayed some handmade spray paint that I learned how to make from Donna Downey.
I liked it but wasn't in love with it - and again this project is for a design team and I'm suppose to really impress Terri. So I added the Tim Holtz Tissue Paper. The Sprays bleed through the tissue paper.
The color didn't jump out so I added the Gelalos then just used water and a paint brush to get the color mixed up. I dragged it down to the sides.
I loved how it came out - and then POP... Tree came into my mind. So I pulled out the Rigid Wrap out and started playing with it... Let this dry completely. I do this in layers to just control how the tree looks better you can you tube this process as well - but don't be afraid it's totally easy and attaches to the canvas perfectly.
Below is close up after I painted the branches.
Below is my cut out leaves. I used the same paper as above and sprays for the butterflys.
After they are cut out spray them with water and crumple them up.
Then I broke out my flowers and started hot glueing them to the canvas.
Some close up photos.
I also stamped some images of Butterflys and flowers around the open area.
Adding the different sizes butterflys.
I used Allene's Glue to set the moss
A whole picture below with the moss tacked down. I really loved how this was coming out. Everything jumps off the page
Some close up photo's of the moss.
Below is another good photo... What's weird here is this is when it took the turn away from what I was thinking in my mind. I stepped away at this point.. Need to figure out what i'm doing next.
So I add my word for 2014... Release.. Because that's the plan for 2014 I am going to release the old and move onto the new.
Ive never had to keep a list of supplies - and I tend to buy and then rip out of packaging and put away so i'll do my best to list everything.

So I was on such a roll I decided to do another canvas.. this is a very old photo that I just love of me and my kids.. Wanted to get it put on a canvas anyway - so this is the best way anyway... I get to be creative. Below is the process and list of supplies.
So I took a 12x12 canvas. I added gesso. And then I pulled out my Lindy Stamp Gang Magicals - Vavavavoom Violet
I put a few section with the powder and then sprayed water.
When it mixes with the gesso the sparkle factor gets totally cool. I tilt the canvas all over so the drips go down the canvas.
I then added Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals California Poppy Yellow powder in sections as well.
Then iI dry it with a heat gun. I then added some washi tape - and be sure to go over it with Golden Gel Medium or the tape will lift up.
I added in some Silver Frost by Creative Inspirations from my stash I have no idea where I got this ... And I added some Cheese Cloth - it hadds some great dimension to the piece I also paint over it.
I pulled patterned scrapbook paper that is wood Not sure the name but it's from Kaiser Craft and tour up the sides. Used my prima tool to tear it up and distress it. I then pulled out my purple gelato and edged it all up and took a wet paintbrush and and let it drip around. This photo below is prior to the dripping.
I pulled out (3) different stencils and used modeling paste - and then my Black Pitt Pen to outlet parts of the stencil and used my finger to smuge it around.
I then added the background paper and tour up a few others ones from DCWV Old World Stack and edged them with stamp. I then stamped a flower image around the area. And then put Green Acrylic Paint filling it. I also added black splatters.
I then made sure pieces of the background paper tear up and roll up.
I then added what I hope looks like grass (ha ha). it was pieces of green burlap that I pulled out.and then hot glued down. I also added a few of the Prima Resins. I never know if I should paint them or not. I just love them white. I added in some flowers.
Added in more flowers. And "family" with the scrabble tiles...
Here's some close up photos.

I hope you enjoyed this process - and like the video... And I really hope I get into the design team - but either way it was alot of fun making them - and it feels really good that I got over my fear and put myself out on the "artist line"
Here's a good chunk of the portion that I video taped. I'm having some computer issues I think it's time for a new one...
I took a sheet of 12x12 scrapbooking page and a stencils and put gesso on it.
After I let it dry overnight. I then sprayed Lindy Stamp Gang sprays over it and used a paper towel to dry the extra off.
I then layed the stencil on top of it and took Acrylic Paint onto the butterflys. I taped down the stencils so it wouldn't move... it still moved alittle but I liked how it came out. When put the paint on top of it the butterflys really came together.
Below is what it looked like after I pulled the stencil off.
I laided down Doilies, and a piece of the backing from the stencils, I used chip board which I painted with gesso first and then used the Prima Chalk Inks to bring color onto it
I then used a few different stamps and black ink and stamped around the page. I also added some cheese cloth and the Prima Ink Chalk onto them. I also added the flowers onto the page as well
Here's some close up photos.
Use the Donna Downey Banner Pieces and put Acrylic Paints and then outlined them in Pitt Pen.
I also put the stencil back onto the page and outlined with a Fine Pitt Pen.
I also pulled a tag together. I used a stencil with Prima Chalk Ink. And then another stamp "Happy". As well as the round stamps.
Below it's pulled together more I added some stickles black glitter paint around the banner and on the flowers.
Below are some close up
It was a fun process playing with the gesso. The spray in resists it and then you can play with the acrylic paints on the gesso area.
